DCA's hounding me for debts over 8 years old

Hi, This is my first post on here and I was wondering if you could help in any way. I have 8 credit card debts that I opened in the nineties, one of which the Caring Sharing Co-op from 1989, which I have allways maintained that the Balance doubled through charges etc over a very short period of time to £10,000!. I had an accident then became very ill and lost my job in the mid nineties, and have remained disabled and unable to work properly ever since. I had to default on all of my cards and arranged payment plans ever since. In 2001 I have been paying only a minimum of £1 per card debt until Halifax took back their debt fron a DCA and turned a £5000 debt which was only £3900 originally, to a £7,100 debt by adding on charges of £1600 in 12months!. I wrote to them several times over this period and spoke to advisors etc telling them to stop, but they just continued, sowing the seeds of my now chronic depression. Halifax then passed the debt on to another DCA last month who have demanded full payment or else!. Through reading posts on this forum I have sent off letters to all the creditors requesting my CCA, that was 7 days ago and 2 have replied saying they don't have one. I am really fed up with all this now and it is causing me hardship, sleepless nights and worry for my wife and children. I will do whatever is needed to sort all this out, and I will go to court if required. I suppose this is a cry for help in a way, which I don't normally do. Thanks for reading, any ideas?.

    Hi Rebel

When did you last pay any money to Halifax or acknowledge in writing that you owed them any money for this loan?
If it was over 6years ago then the debt is statute barred and you wouldn't need to pay (the CCA request would be irrelevant as the statute barred status would 'trump' anything else to do with the debt).

If there has never been a 6year period without payment then you need to consider the CCAs.
Which companies have told you they don't hold a CCA - and what else do their letters say?

    Hi

Given the date of those cards, I would be very very surprised if the CCA and the default letters are both legally complaint on any of them.
These accounts should not even be showing up on your credit record, have you checked?

With respect to the two companies that do not have CCAs, there is nothing they can do to force you to pay. Do you want to stop paying? If they pursue you in this situation, you can report them to the OFT who takes a very porr view of such antics.

Hi, I don't think I have ever admited in writing that I owe anything to Halifax, it's quite a while ago since I defaulted and it was Blair,Oliver Scott who originally took the debt off Halifax in the first place. It was then passed on to IQOR last month who kept phoning me constantly, and wouldn't tell me who they were unless I gave all my details!. IQOR are one of the DCA's who have replied to the CCA request and say they havn't got a copy, and will contact Halifax for them to send one direct to me. I'm worried now that the debt will go back to Halifax and they will just lump on more charges like before!.I was paying Halifax £1 a month for a number of years untill they 'fattened' the amount up!.

Hi, As far as I know these debts are still on my record,I can't obtain anything like contract mobile phones, even Sky television!. I want to stop paying because I've had enough, and need to stop before I sink out of sight!

I stopped paying Halifax about 2-3 years ago and started paying Blair Oliver Scott, then in July I stopped paying them. I havn't agreed or paid anything to Iqor at all.

Ok so if I get my credit record and find it littered with entries what do I do then, will it help in any way?. Do I have to apply to have things removed if they are over 6 years old, or if the debt is still unresolved does it start again?.It's all very confusing:o
