Buyer sent cash but i havent received it.

My buyer sent me cash. i haven't received anything when i contacted buyer he said he posted out on mon and then in another emai said he posted payment on fri Totally contradicting himself. Now says he will be on holiday and not contactable for a week. I recommended recorded delivery for any buyer paying cash. If he has not done this what should i do. trying to build up some feedback. Do not want the hassle really we are on;t=y talking a couple of quid. I am new to ebay. Makes me mad.

Edited cos i put that he sent cash on mon twice not mon and fri. oops. me bad.

How did the buyer send the payment: First Class, recorded delivery?

Cash is always sent at buyers own risk - Thats what I state. Until you receive payment its not really your problem. No matter what the buyer says until you get it , the deal is unpaid.

If it was me I would not lose sleep over it, I would NPB at a later date.

How did the buyer contractdict themselves in those e-mails? Unless its a typing error then its states twice that payment was sent on Monday....

As for the problem of the cash not yet being received then this is the buyers fault, they should have sent using a signed for delivery service. I woudn't personally ask for buyers to pay by cash anyway, as it could so easily go missing in the post.

I hope you had other options for payment - it's one thing if a buyer chooses to send cash, it's another if that was their only choice. Incidentally, I agree with whitey - both emails said posted Monday - how is that contradictory?

One email said monday and one said friday. My mistake typing. bit muppet like when sleepy sorry. Yes i had cash cheque paypal and personal collection. not unreasonable, plenty of options available. I did recommend recorded delivery for cash but am not sure how it was sent. just says posted in a jiffy bag.will give the guy benefit of doubt and if i have not received payment by the time he returns from hol i will offer him the option of sending payment or me relisting item. Thanks for your contributions. Other opinions are always useful.

Firstly, a seller may not ask for cash as a payment option anymore, ebay stopped that earlier this year. A buyer can however choose to send it at their own risk.

Secondly, recorded delivery does not cover cash, special delivery is the only way to send cash in the post.

The problem with cash is there is no proof either way that it has been received. The worst case scenario is that the buyer will leave you negative feedback and if you have cash as an option in your listing report you to ebay (who probably won't do anything though).
