He isnt going to claim as we are ok. Bills are paid etc and as corny as it sounds, we arent materialistic and are quite happy as we are. It was my friend who asked him why he wasnt claiming, I didnt think this was possible until I looked at the link I posted above and what the adviser told him ( that if I worked lower hours then for him to phone again).May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -

However you should be getting WTC and CTC. If you are renting you could get help with your rent.0 -
Well, my partner is self employed and works 40 hours a week. He earns £300 a week after tax e.t.c and if i returned to work i would work 37 hours and earn £900 a month. Hope that is a little more detailed x
We both have a lot of outgoings between us aswell, loans, credit cards e.t.c
I think you would get help with your childcare costs through tax credits. I think you would be better off if you went back to work What makes you sure you would be worse off?May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -

Thankyou.
Yes we do get CTC and WTC. We are home owners so no rent to pay. Just out of interest, If we were renting, what help would there be then?
Purely and simply a nosey question as the benefit system just baffles me..lol.
So...it is possible for one person to claim IS even though the other one works? (again...just a nosey question! Believe me, it doesnt take much to confuse me on this board..lol)
My OH, before we met was on DLA and IB and never knew he could claim council tax benefit... We only found this out when sorting out the council tax payments on a new property..lol.

Basically the government say that a person/couple can live off a minimum amount in order to survive, it is £100.95 per week for a couple. If your income is over the IS personal allowance plus any premiums for disabilities on top of that then you will not be entitled.
Try www.entitledto.co.uk fo an idea of entitlements.0
