Oh yes, regarding the train tickets. TheTrainLine.com charge £1.50 or something per booking, but not all train companies do (even though the tickets are all sent from the same processing place!) For train tickets go to http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ and when it gets to the "buy tickets" option chose one of the train companies rather than TheTrainLine. Check whether they charge for credit cards or not.
When I bought tickets a few weeks ago I used First Great Western and there was no charge.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
Hi Evosy1978,
You should have been told before paying that there would be a charge.
Easyjet (for example) make this clear.
I agree that on some sites it's in the tiny print but in 90% of cases you are made aware of this before paying.
The trick is to use your credit card when there are no fees and use a debit card when there are fees, which are for a minority of items (like holidays, plane tickets etc.).
The majority of retailers do not charge such fees.
If your spending is mainly on tickets then I'm afraid you are a bit unlucky.
I agree it would be a useful addition to the article to explain, but it really should have been obviously at the point of sale that there was a charge.
At this point you can change your mind and choose to pay by a different method so you SHOULD have had a choice at the point of payment. I know a few places hide it but most make it clear to you before you pay.
I always check the the total is what I expect and query it if it doesn't add up to the amount I'm expecting.
Now that you have had this experience perhaps you need to be a bit more careful in future to check for charges and making sure the total is as you expected.0
