TIP: SPAM Text Reporting service (Orange)
I notice that spam text messages are being spoken about more and more on this site so thought the following would be useful.
Orange have a method of combating this problem. Much like e-mail spam reporting, the more people who know about the service, the more effective it is (I believe it is for Orange customers only but I may be wrong).
Basically, if you receive a text message that is spam on your Orange phone, forward the message to telephone no. 7726 (free of charge!
) and the text will be forwarded to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) to be analysed.
See http://www.orange.co.uk/about/contact/spam/index.html for more details.
As a tip, I suggest entering this number into the memory of your phone and therefore makes it quick and simple to forward the message.
I have used it on several occassions and although it is difficult to say if it makes a direct difference, I get very few spam messages.
