Safestyle UK - Quote for 7 windows and door

Hi
On Monday we moved into a new property. It is a small one bedroom semi-detached house with single glazing all the way throughout the house. Having spent a few days in the house we have noticed that the windows are pretty burglar friendly, the windows provide no sound proofing and the door is an absolute joke.
We had a safestyle salesman turn up last night to give us a quote after giving us a long presentation about the many different types of double glazing. We have 7 small windows and 1 door that needs to be replaced and he gave us a laughable quote of about £4500 for the whole lot. We expected it to be high but not that ridiculous amount!
Anyway, after spitting my coffee over our new coffee table I told him that's way too high. I asked him to take at least £1000 off and that's when we realized this guy was the same dodgy salesman you find everywhere. He told us that was right on the margin and then phoned his boss to ask if that amount was ok, which predictably it was, but only on a certain day. After realizing the time (10pm) we asked him to leave saying we would think about it (yeah right!)
Anyway, can you guys give us some pointers for what kind of price range we should expect for 7 windows and a new door? (security and sound proofing being the main reasons) Also, what kind of companies in the Southampton area are good and trustworthy to get the job done?
Thanks in advance.

Just choose 2 or 3 local companies (word or mouth recommendations or your local council may have a "trader register") to give you quotes.
Then compare them to the quote you have from Safestyle and maybe get one of the other biggies to quote too.
Then post the prices up here...
Never believe the (this price is only valid for the next 5 minutes / 10 days) crap... (you obviously didn't). Its all a ploy to a) make you rush into a decision without thinking about it and b) stop you shopping around.
As for that particular price... i'm not sure myself, but it depends on what quality we're talking as to whether its a good deal.
For example a composite door could cost £800 - £2000 whereas a PVC door could be fitted for £500.0 -
We recently had 5 windows replaced at a cost of £1590 so your price seems a little steep.
Have a look at http://www.doubleglazingontheweb.co.uk and see if they are any better? That's who we used and they were great.
You can price the whole thing up yourself before contacting them too.

Thanks for the link Jason,
I have wanted to get a quote for ages so I had a ballpark figure how much I needed to save up to get windows. Can do that now through your link.0
