i bought a new mattress in dec. and did a lot of comparison shopping price paid was £450. i went around this week to check the "SALE" prices to see if i could get the credit card refund martin had mention earlier.
Harveys had advertised a 50% off sale so i went to check it out. my December quote from them was £479 regular price.
today there price £799 but with there massive sale i could get it for ...... yep 479.
this cannot be legal i checked all the stuff in the store there salle prices were the same as there pre-christmas prices they just change the original price

My friend works in the retail trade and he informed me of how they inflate prices and then they claim it is 50% of days before the sale begins.0

It's ages since I worked in a shop but the law used to be - they can call it a sale price as long as they've sold it for a higher price in any of their stores for 28 consectutive days any time during the last 6 months. I assume the law hasn't changed on this :-/Bulletproof0

You should ask them which of their stores advertised it at the higher price. I bet that your conversation would involve the manager needing to contact head office to find out, and discovering that nobody has the information available.
It is an area of consumer law that could do with some tightening up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just had a look at Cd-Wow's supposed january sale. Most things looked like their usual prices to me!0

Don't tip the store off just send an email to your Trading Standards department complaining. Look on your local council website for contact details.
