Regarding gas leak
Options
I'm currently in rented housing by a housing company.
Basically a contract company came around today to check our gas reading he said he was suprised to see there was a gas leak of 10mb a minuite... is that bad?
He couldnt find the leak in the house with his detector (he tried all the ends of pipes, behind the oven etc)
We recently left EON and and got a final gas bill for 2,000£ the last gas person to come around didn't check the boiler as their apparently was a higher priority of getting an abestos boiler from the attic.
I have three children, and he said that the problem wouldn't be fixed until at all this week, or weekend.
I'm worried as i thought gas leaks are an emergency, my worry is he said the other possible explanation is that it's under the house... which worries me even more... surely ANY collection of gas isn't good?
I can't smell anything, but maybe if it's such a small gas leak you get used to it..?
I'm just panacing as they havent given me a date and the other thing is 3 children: 1 three year old, and two teenagers without hot water and heating. He said they could send us out blow heaters... but i'm worried because as a single parent (i still work full time) i have to then foot the bill for heating of heaters which cost an absolute ton.
Please can you read through and see if anything doesn't seem right and tell me if thats classed as an emergency.
Please some good news!!

Hi Okay_2
If you have any concerns at all about gas escaping there is an emergency number you can call.
It is the National Gas Emergency Helpline and the number is 0800 111 999.
I would call them straight away and tell them your concerns.
Also, take some basic precautions whilst it is sorted. Don't smoke or strike matches, put out all naked flames, don't operate anything electrical (including light switches) and make sure the property is well ventilated by opening windows and doors.
Good luck Okay_2 and I hope everything works out for you.
