  • If it is a recent purchase (according to your post) they may replace it, however they can offer to repair it for you (send it off)

What make of laptop is it?

Have you called Argos to ask them?

I suspect they will offer repair. It may only be 2 months, but Argos, like most places, only offer a straight replacement within a certain time period (e.g. 1 month)

  • I had an issue a few months back with a dodgy keyboard - turns out it was some tweaks I applied to the registry in the hopes of improving performance of my new solid state drives. Now I'm really not accusing you of tweaking, but saying that it could be a software, not hardware fault. But argos will most likely refund or replace, depending on if they stock the same item.

Not true in my case re a faulty Humax PRV, 3 months old, HDD went faulty, called Humax who agreed and suggested either they, (Humax) would courier exchange, or I could return to retailer, returned to Argos, explained it was faulty, full refund onto a giftcard, (how originally paid), then purchased another one therefore ensuring a new 2 year warranty.

Ah, thanks. I should probably have pointed out that it's not the same for all products! A laptop will almost certainly be repaired first.

when my keyboard was playing up i was advised to give it a good clean with a vacuum and dust it a bit - it worked....have you tried this first?
  • In a situation like this with anything try:

    1) the shop you bought it, if within 30days, sometimes you get longer but it's rare. Also you might have taken out the extra cover however that's not needed because...

    2) send it back to the people who made it (2 year warranty). Getting the address to send to and info is not always easy

    3) buy a spare keyboard off ebay and replace it yourself. Or you could get a little usb one and stick on top of the keyboard
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker
