Hi
From Monday my partners 5 year old will be living with us and needing packed lunches for school. Looking through these forums for inspiration I came across a post about making up some jelly in the little tupperware pots you can get and giving her one of those each day, maybe with some fruit in (much cheaper than buying ready made). So, I've been out and got the pots and some sugar free jelly but nowhere on the packet does it say how long it keeps after its made up. Anyone have any ideas?? And also, could it be frozen maybe???
Thanks

I make jellies for DS lunch box on a Sunday and they are still fine by the last one on Friday. I just keep them in the fridge0

Hi there
I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem-but I found that Sugar Free jelly starts to go runny if kept out of the fridge -just thought I would warn you just in case-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thats a bit of a shame, I've bought 6 sachets of the stuff . Maybe if I make it up with a little bit less water?? I'll give it a go see how we get on.
Thanks for the warning0 -
Hi, I would also say jelly will keep for a week in the fridge. I have not tried freezing it though as it is so quick to make up.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
I dont imagine it would freeze well having a high water content, but as said here, it keeps for at least a week in the fridge. I dont think it really goes off, it just goes watery but ive had jelly in the fridge ages, and its not went off
nice idea to make her itA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Watch out if you put fruit in the jelly - if it sticks out above the surface it can go mouldy (but should be OK if fresh and kept in the fridge)... I have personal experience of this!!

Orange jelly made up with half ornange juice instead of all water is very tasty. I do it for my daughter sometimes and it keeps for about a week in the fridge.0

Have recently been buying those small pots of jelly or custard to put in DD's lunchbox, only really cos they have been on offer (although not really very OS!)
I know it is going to be much cheaper to buy a jelly block and make my own up but the problem is, if I make one up at the beginning of the week it will only really keep for a couple of days. Does it keep better if it is in a pot with a lid on it or can you freeze them?0 -
I doubt it would keep all week but you could make up half the pack?0

Commercial jelly will probably keep a while
I'll add this to the exisitng thread later; there are more suggestions there.
