sorry if this is slightly OT but several people have mentioned buying a laser thingy on a Christmas shopping night. Is this for hair removal? If so I'd be really interested as I didn't realise you could buy one to use at home and cannot afford salon prices. I just searched the Boots website for 'laser' and it showed several laser hair removers but none at £250. I'd be really grateful for any opinions/advice regarding this.

here is the topic where people talk about it. it has almost a year since it came and for now people seem quite impressed, but it depends of your luck too

I am thinking of taking the risk ... but hope to get as many points from it as possible

Here's the relevant web page on the Boots site:

    http://www.boots.com/en/Seasonal-Events/Customer-shopping-events/Instore-customer-shopping-events/

The 1st date for the shopping evening is Wednesday 28th October.
You can click on a link near the bottom of the page and enter a store/town name to find out when the evenings are.

If I click on that link it just goes to the store locate near you ... it doesn't say the date of the next Christmas shopping evening...

Also, details are given on the points awarded. Including:

A total of 1200 points will be automatically added to your Advantage Card once and each time the £50 threshold has been met in a single transaction

So a £50 spend will give you 1200 points and a £100 spend will give you 2400 points.

Whilst this would be nice, I doubt very much that your interpretation of the number of points awarded is correct. If a person cannot break down their shopping into £50 chunks, I fear they will only get 1200 points. It does say in the blurb you quoted that 'A total of 1200 points will be automatically added to your Advantage Card once.' I think the 'each time' bit refers to separate transactions. So if you did 3 transactions of £50 each (which I have previously done), you get 1200 x 3 = 3600. This is my interpretation, anyway.

    Wirralites!

Bromborough evening is Wed 28th Oct 3-10pm
Birkenhead evening is Thurs 29th Oct 3-8pm
Cheshire Oaks evening is Fri 29th Oct 3-10pm

    Anyone know the Liverpool date/times?

I hope the 1200 points thing is per £50 (i.e. if I spend £100 I'll get 2400 points in 1 transaction as opposed to having to split it all up into separate transactions - annoying!)

How can I find out for sure? For only 1200 points is not worth it going to the shop specially in one of those evening as I can't split the Smooth Skin IPL thing into pieces to buy the chunks... grrr... (and I saw that giftcards are excluded)

So no way in getting some more points back from the £250 spent?

you will get 6000 points for £250 as it 1200 for EVERY £50 spend... it was like this in the previous years and this year as well... it says on the web...

We know that Christmas is a busy and expensive time of year, which is why we're holding special Christmas Shopping Evenings during October and November*. Here you can get all your Christmas gifts from our fantastic range, plus we'll give you 1200 Advantage Card points for every £50 you spend – that's £12 worth of points to spend in any Boots store!**

boots is good with this offer, so when you want to spend £100 you dont have to split your shopping... its the same with their 3 for 2 mix and match... if you buy for example 6 diffrents set , if want be the 2 cheapest free but every 3rd one IFKWIM...

Do they do any extra points events online? My local store is tiny and doesn't stock the gifts I want to buy for people xx

  • Don't want to start a fight but in previous years ( I've been to the last 7 xmas preview evenings ) It has been a matter of splitting your shopping into £50 baskets i.e a £100 spend does not earn £24 of points
I would love to be proved wrong as it is a bit of a pain splitting everything into £50 baskets

If your local store is tiny I doubt they would do a preview evening, it is normally only bigger stores with a reasonable xmas offering
