How to remove a search from file

I have a search on my Equifax from Capquest dated 28/04/2008. Obviously this is over a year old and surely it should have been deleted?
How do I get it removed as it mentions the reason for the search was 'outstanding debt' which I think is derogatory to my file.

I'm sure I've read on here that these type of searches stay on your file for two years as it is like a tracing thing xCurrent Accounts with Lloyds TSB and Bank of Scotland
Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo CC
T Mobile (new i-phone)
