Wireless routers cost about £60 brand new for branded kit e.g. Netgear http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/search/?strSearch=&intSubcatUID=477&intPage=1&bolShowAll=true&intMfrID=112

    and then

    £27 per PC card

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/search/?strSearch=&intSubcatUID=1019&intPage=1&bolShowAll=true&intMfrID=112

    or

    £23 per wireless laptop card

Some laptops will have wirless built in so no card needed.

Some PC's maybe near the router so you can use the wired terminals for those.

I've guess BT (or over BT line) ADSL connection and branded goods.

You can buy the same products at cheaper prices on e-bay.

I have got a cable connection and therefore a different type of router at home bought from e-bay as a re-furbished Netgear. No issues at all.

2 PC's use it wired, 1 laptop and a BT iPlayer+ freeview reciever wireless and mates use their laptops if they need windows updates etc on it.

A key question is are you on ADSL or NTL/Telewest cable for your broadband?
This will make quite a difference in the price of the router. For ADSL you need a combined modem/router, for cable, a router only.

I've always used Belkin kit, which is keenly priced & has lifetime warranty.

Make sure you make the network secure to keep the neighbours from accessing t.

Get those bundled package currently offered by Misco/PCWorld/Argos and the likes .. you can get the router + USB dongle. Should cost you around £50 for cable and £60 for ADSL. Extra adapters could be bought for around £20 or less either from ebay or check your local computer shops.
