Tesco credit card aplication process HELP!

I have just applied for the Tesco credit card, 12 month 0% on purchases.

I was accepted for the card and told my credit limit. I ticked the signature thingy and before I could press the button to finalise the application, the screen crashed

So I went through the application again and it declined due to my personal details entered did not match their eligibilty criteria?

Confused now! If call them tomorrow will they be able to see the succesfull application I made and finalise it?

"If you are experiencing technical difficulties with your application please call 0845 60 10 900" (or a cheaper number from 'saynoto0870' ;)).

In the meantime, it's been reported on here before (the immediate 2nd application decline reminded me)..several times so a forum search should turn up something as to the likely outcome.

Yes, this is reported here from time to time.

Something similar occurred when I submitted an online application to Tesco last November. Staff were well aware of the problem way back then.

I'd certainly call Tesco for confirmation that your first attempt was successful. Btw, if you ring Tesco Finance on 0800 505 555, you'll avoid the perishing 0870/0845 numbers ;)

  • It may take a few days for Tescos to see your application (although some can see it in 24hours) but if it got to the accept stage it will be on their systems they may send you a credit agreement to sign rather than you signing online. "personal circumstances" is just a standard line they use for rejected applicants. It declined just in case you where a fraudster applying for multiple cards.

Applying for a tesco c/card seems to be fraught with problems - I tried on a number of occasions, and it eventually dawned on me that I would have to apply using Internet Explorer rather than FireFox or Chrome.

That said, you won't get a confirmation email - they send you a letter about 3 or 4 days later - so you have no way of knowing whether you were successful. I suspect you'll need to call them on Monday.

Once you've been accepted you will then be forced to jump through a few hoops in order to register with the online banking system - again this seems quite temperamental. I was given the number of a technical helpline to call if I got into difficulties with the web site. To this day, I cannot access my "eStatements" because I switched to paper statements - and only the paper statements are on the website (bizarre!)...

Best bet is to give them a call - my application was "locked" which stopped me doing it over and over until it worked.

My experience was in November last year... guess they still haven't fixed it!
