When is the best time of year to buy a Wickes kitchen?

We have planning permission to build an extension. We haven't hired a builder yet but have started getting quotes. The kitchen we really like is in Wickes. If we'd ordered it in the summer they had a 50% sale. A friend who works in B&Q told me that their best sale is always over Christmas. Is there a time of year when Wickes has its best sale?

I had my kitchen from Wickes and someone on here (Claire) who is a customer service manager gave me this advice in a PM which worked really well (hope she doens't mind me naming her). I had a quote during the giveaway then went in to discuss my kitchen plan into the first day of the sale and managed to get a year interest free credit (which helped alot). I had previously been watching the prices in Wickes for 12 months saving all the brochures and I actually found there was little difference in prices (but you can haggle a bit off the quote). I was really happy with the price. "If you go in on the last day of the Great Giveaway to get a quote you may find that they can hold the Interst Free over until the following day when we go in to sale. That way you could get sale price or Great Giveaway (whichever is less) with IFC".

There are two best times to buy: Summer and Winter. Wickes traditionaly do around 70% of their annual sales in these two sales periods and as a result, the offers do tend to be slightly better. Also the Time Limited Promotions they run are always better.

Never buy in the initial sale period, wait until the sale extension, as you are more likely to haggle more discount. The store can offer an extra 5-10% off the price, but if you are feeling really brave, you can push for more. The regional controller can approve higher discounts, but it's at their discretion.

You are also more likely to get additional discounts if you don't take the Interest Free Credit option they have running, as this ends up costing them money anyway, so they will be more reluctant to give discounts.

It seems you can get 15% off on your first order online too when you order the catalogue, so I guess unless staff instore can match that, you're better off ordering online.

ring the customer service line and tell them it's between them & B&Q, that sort of thing and ask for further discount, they give you a code to use online.

Don't forget to apply for a Wickes loyalty card (if you haven't already got one). We have just got £250 back in vouchers to use in store and we are thinking of using them against the cost of some bathroom furniture from there - every little helps.

I've found the best time to buy a wickes kitchen is NEVER, however i appreciate that's not very positive and it could just be my local branch having the disadvantage of employing halfwits, no not even halfwits, quarterwits!
