Word - Merge Switches

I can't try it out myself because I use OOo at home and no Internet at work lol. I was trying to format some numbers into currency but have a slight problem...
Basically I'm using data from Excel in Word to display currencies.
To get it to use 2 decimal places I used a numerical switch something like this (can't remember exactly what I did) -
\# £####.00
It works well, but the problem I want to resolve is if a number is say only £2 it is displayed as -
£ 2.00
(ie. with 3 spaces before the two).
Some numbers are in the hundreds though (and display as properly as £123.45) and it seemed like I needed to do it with the above switch otherwise 3 digit numbers would get messed up.
Hope someone can understand and shed some light on it!

Anybody? I know it's a feature which not many people have probably dabbled with but I'm sure someone must know... somewhere.

If you want no spaces after the £ use:
\# "£#.00"
If you want to right-justify the numbers use:
\# "£####.00"0 -
Thanks, \# £0.00 did it.
