Help with laptop PLease

Hi am not very technically minded especially where computers are concerned so your help would be appreciated. Daughters laptop screen has decided not to work! its been playing up lately and tonight seems to have given up, is it repairable or does it look like i'll have to buy a new one?

is it just readable ?? , then its either the backlight or the Inverter (both involve dismantling the laptop)

you should be able to plug a standard screen into the back of the laptop and see if it is working then ( proves the Backlight)

What make & model is it?

You say it has been playing up, is that just the screen?

Is the laptop powering up, lights come on?
  • Yes its powering up and all the lights are coming on and you can very faintly see the logo on the screen but you have to look very hard. The laptop is about 5 years old and was purchased from the Tchibo shops ( a gift from a very nice uncle to my daughter). Over the last few weeks the screen hasn't always come on when its switched on so we've switched it off and back on and its worked again so am confused, could do without the expense of a new one so any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.
