One refund, finally arrived onto my credit card today. Thank goodness. I suspect I may wait considerably longer for any acknowledgement of my complaint though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I would honestly and strongly urge anyone to give serious consideration before going with More Than for insurance - personally I am now dreading us needing to make a claim with them - if a simple refund is causing this much hassle to obtain, goodness only knows how long a claim could take!
Well if you're interested my claim from More>Than for a pretty devastating escape of water has taken 10 months so far, is with the Ombudsman and have only just last week settled on a figure to restore my property over 3 times their initial offer. In the meantime they refused to accommodate me away from the property despite water running down the walls and I'm still living in a wreck.
The principle issue was their unresponsiveness and, bluntly, their blatant lies - and not just the loss adjuster. It took them 3 weeks to get anyone to come in and start drying it out, even though I had a builder ready to go. They underpaid agreed amounts, they refused to amend a scope that was clearly wrong (2 coats of paint doth not a bowed ceiling repair) and when I eventually complained Their Customer Relations Team, took 10 weeks to even appoint someone to handle my complaint with them, by which time it was with the Ombudsman. In the time it took them to receive my complaint and bother to send a response, Legal and General has sorted out my mate's very comparable escape of water, including accommodating them, doing all the drying and repair work, and paying all settlements.
A warning though. The FOS' adjudicator advised that they will very very rarely award anything more than a grand for distress and inconvenience. Despite hours and hours of my own time trying to resolve the matter and having to live in a property that was sopping wet, it turns out it's in More>Than's interests not to do the right thing. They saved anywhere between £8-15k on accommodation, for example. And believe me - they're quite happy to do the wrong thing.0 -
Out of interest how would the alternative accomadation costs run to £15k0
