Reducing credit limit

I have recently had my credit card limit reduced from £8400 to £600 by Nationwide Building Society yet they say my credit history is perfect but say i have to put in an appeal if i wish to increase my limit again! What can i do?

They reduced mine from £2200 to £500 I think there just going around making reducing the amount that they might have to lend out.
