Electricity company have underestimated our bill, want to swap..

Options
Hi all,

Been with Southern Electric for 2 years now, had a look at the meter a couple of weeks ago and noticed that their estimates amount to around 1500 units less than what the meter actually reads (about 1,000 daytime units and 500 night time).

First port of call was to increase the direct debit by a good amount.

Problem is, we want to switch providers as we believe we're paying over the odds. Npower are doing a good deal along with cashback.

What will happen if/when we terminate contract with SE? Will they take a meter reading and then send us a nice bill for the hundreds of pounds?

Nah, they will just write it off as it wasn't your fault that you didn't read your meter before now, was it!

  • Seriously? As I have no idea if you're being sarcastic...?

Never switched a leccy company before so don't have a clue of the process

When you leave you will have to pay in full any outstanding amounts. They may read the meter just before or after or ask you to do it for them. If you dont settle up you wont be able to move to a new supplier

It always best to keep an eye on your meters and tell your utility company, so not to get too much into debt or credit
