I am not sure how they can justify taking 20% of the pool. Not sure even the Tote take that much.
Darragh - why was this removed?
I used to work part time as a on course cashier for the Tote and the deduction from the Win Pool was 16% but it was reduced in 2004 to 13.5%. The Place Pool deduction was reduced from 24% to 18%.
The tote would employ around 700 cashiers for one day at Cheltenham during the Festival so you need a higher pool deduction.
20% does seem a bit over the top, surely any payouts must be executed via a computer programme. I cannot believe in this day and age someone has to sit down and carryout the task manually?

i wondered that as well. First time i have done this if its true we only get 44 points back in total i wont be doing this again!!! What a waste of time and piggy points!!
I would of thought we would of got 44 points + our original 50 back so making a total of 94 points. If you win in the bookies you get your original stake back plus whatever you won!!0 -
The piggypoints jackpots are a total rip-off and the points-back farce is the whole reason I don't bother betting on them anymore. I did used to a while back (usually the 'chart position gambles') but I was also ripped off with one and I haven't bet on any since.
I think you should get your winnings + original stake, back but you don't. You only get your winnings which are occasionally less than your original stake.
Any chance this could be reviewed Darraugh? Otherwise, why should people bother betting on something where you might end up winning less than you staked? Surely even just winning a few points is better than losing points!!?!?0 -

You will just get 44 points not 94 (44 + 50).0 -
yeah the betting is a bit pointless then?
i had 100 points on bonnie coming out - and im only gonna get 84 points back! what a waste of time?
oh well - wont be doin it again!0 -

IMO 20% is a disgraceful amount to be taking out of the pot. I would love someone from PB try and justify their cut.
I won't be doing a BB Jackpot again, that's for sure. :mad:I would of thought we would of got 44 points + our original 50 back so making a total of 94 points. If you win in the bookies you get your original stake back plus whatever you won!!
Only way to get a decent payout is to back a winning "outsider."0
