IMHO, this thread will undoubtably be a duller place without droopsnout. He always has the patience to type up the reply that I'd been thinking of (or wish I'd thought of!).
Adieu droopsnout
Please come back and visit us soon xsome people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
Not sure why you feel today was the day that broke the camels back, but I've been on here for a long time now, and found today no different.
I myself posted a quiz answer, to tell you the truth I posted it because I hadn't done the quiz myself and only skimmed thru the posts to see if it was there. It's not that I wanted thanks, but only trying to get involved in what I think is a great board, alright it can get very boring, and fustrating, at times but the banter should make up for it.
So not wanting to jump on the 'don't go' bandwagon, but I would urge you to think about it and stay a wee while longer, at least to keep an eye on the board and give us help when it is needed.
Sorry for being long winded, but as Penny Watcher said, don't let them get you down.Mac0 -

You know droopsnout pretty well by now, so you'll probably understand if he wants to have one more word!
The trouble is, whenever this happens, the leaver looks like some kind of prima donna! I can assure you that my figure would not permit you such a thought!!! (See itsbeef's photo above. Not me, but close!)
jo_b wrote:I think DS is having an 'off-day' as he is usually very eloquent, tactful and diplomatic.:
However, I'm not having an "off day". I really have had enough of the tiny number of small-minded people who just don't see the wood for the trees. I realise that sounds terribly arrogant, because it assumes that I always do!! If only it were so!
However, there are some things in life that are so simple, and yet some folk refuse to see what is before their eyes. For the first time in a long time, I really am angry! (Not the done thing these days, and to some another sign of prima-donna-ness!)
I refer readers to my earlier post #661, and those that followed.
It is interesting that replies to my last post dwell most on the question of repeat posts. Although that issue does bother me somewhat, it has not influenced me anywhere nearly as much as one or two other posts. I shan't list them as I don't wish to embarrass the poster(s), but the more sensitive amongst you will no doubt work it out. But please don't think that repeat posts is the main reason for my bowing out. Far from it! I have always supported newbies, and a goodly number of them could tell you that I have PM'd them with advice and info. I do believe in common courtesy, however. That makes me old-fashioned, I guess. But even in the modern age of forums, there is such a thing as netiquette!
There I go again - putting the emphasis where I didn't want to, on the repeat posts. So I say again: whilst the repeat posts irritate me (but that's all), plain stubborn foolishness and bad manners really do get my goat.
You will still see my green light on! But I won't be contributing. I may be on other MSE threads, or I may be reading this one.
To Palescene, Marigold, Jules, Kazzea, itsbeef, Redrum, innovate ... oh and lots of other people who have entertained me on here for almost a year, including edna_bucket ... I thank you!! Thanks to Darraghd for being thoughtful, responsive, kind and charming. And, at risk of sounding like an Oscar winner, thanks to all those who have expressed support - today or in the past - for droopsnout, especially to those who voted for Kazzea and him a few months ago for the Post Of The Month comp. It's not forgotten!
Finally, thanks to the board guides and mods, who have put up with all this rubbish of mine.
I'll still be reading, and enjoying the humour of the thread, I hope!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

That's not very nice!
BTW, Descartes - a quick unrelated tip. If you are ever in a pub and someone offers you a drink, don't ever, ever say "I think not." If you do, chances are you'll promptly disappear!0 -
droopsnout
What will we do without your input - I nearly choked laughing on the post about tights!
Please spread your wisdom (and laughs) on other threads if you have given up on this one.
Thanks for all the laughs.:rotfl: :T"This site is addictive!"

Dizzie wrote:Am I the only one who found droopsnouts "rant" a little harsh, the repeat posters are just trying to help. Because of the amount of posts on this thread, links and quiz answers can be hard to find and the search engine doesn't allways work aswell as it should, this is why a lot of the repeat posters get thanked.
I must say, I found the rant quite scary!
I know that I don't always have time to read every single post on here, and so I can understand why some people might accidently miss a post that is similar to theirs. It is a bit off putting when someone says something like that as a new poster might feel worried about posting something and really the point of this whole forum is to share things...shouldn't we just all be nice and get on?! :rotfl:Money money money!0 -
Broken_hearted wrote::T Good way to shut up all the moaners pigsback :T
Agreed it was a good marketing idea, although if people hadn't complained then the problems wouldn't have been solved.
OK everyone - so there's a very simple forward strategy here then?
1) Pour in heaps of (often deserved) criticism on Pigsback.
2) Get loads of blarney posted back in return by Darragh.
3) Myriad CT's subsequently appear as if by magic!!!:D:D
