The "Charnwood Country 4"

Has any one got one of these wood burners? Charnwood Country 4; And if so are they any good? They are my prefered choice. I need a 4kw, or 5kw small wood burner.

Also, does anyone know if I really need a chimney liner with it.. I keep getting conflicting reports, ill prefer not too as they cost so much. Any advice appreciated.

Grz.

  • The general concensus seems to be install a liner. I know I did with mine, but as you say, it does come at quite an expense. The liner alone cost me over £200. Then you either need to get up on the roof and pull it down or get someone to do it. Also, woodburners should be installed by a HETAS installer, but they quoted me far too much, so I installed mine myself and put in a building control notice which cost £94, so got everything signed off and gives me peace of mind too.

If you've already got a class 1 flue thats sound then you may not need one. A chimney sweep should be able to tell you how good it is or if its working fine with an open fire now and you want to cowboy it then dont bother.
BTW you may get more responses over in the fuel and other heating bit of the forum.
