hubby's daughter left college in June, she turned 18 in July and started Uni this week
CSA wrote today to say that the liability ceased on 14th September - I thought it was meant to be the first week in September
(here's hoping this thread doesn't get closed - I think I am being stalked!)

As far as I'm aware, it's supposed to end on the first Monday in September.
Perhaps it's something to do with Child support being paid in arrears to the CSA.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

I was under the impression that as long as the child was in full-time education then all liability cease when the child turns 20.
I could be wrong of course but it seems that the rule mentioned above is one of the new rule.
Congrats to your step-daughter for pursuing her studies. University life can be very rewarding... and life changing!
Wishing her to do very well!0 -

Liability currently ends at 19 regardless of whether the child remains in education after their 19th or if the PWC still receives child benefit.I was under the impression that as long as the child was in full-time education then all liability cease when the child turns 20.

If the child is doing further education, then liability will cease on the first Monday in September after the college course finishes or if the child reaches 19 before that date.
If the child is in uni & studying advanced education, then liability should cease on the first Monday in September when the uni course starts.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

is the age 19 on CSA 1 cases??0

Hello blimey,
My case was on CSA1, and ended when he was 19.
As pwc, I made sure that I played my part, and informed the CSA that my sons 19th birthday was approaching, to ensure I wasn't overpaid.

Yes it's 19 on CS1 & I did the same as munchins-n-crunchins, only from the NRP perspective to make sure I didn't overpay.is the age 19 on CSA 1 cases??Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

My CSA1 ended when my son was 18 and 2 months in August last year. He is still in further eductaion and his mum still gets child benefit.
I have queried this with the CSA and still await a reply.0 -
Be very wary. The cut off age is definitely 19 & you may be heading for a large arrears bill even though it's no fault of your own.MIKEtheBIKE wrote: »My CSA1 ended when my son was 18 and 2 months in August last year. He is still in further eductaion and his mum still gets child benefit.
