Halifax loan ppi

Hi I took out a loan at at the end of 2005 for £5000 from the halifax.

I just wondered if i would be able to claim back the PPI or cancel it as i dont need it and didnt really want it. I dont think i even signed for it either to be honest. Is there a way of getting a copy of my original agreement with them to see if i did sign?

Hi There in the first place I would just ring and ask them for a copy of the original agreement. If they are not helpful then write to them and enclose £1.00 asking for a copy of the agreement they have 12 days to reply.

It sounds as though you can ask for a refund of PPI if you were forced to take it out with the loan.

    Good Luck

Hi my Vicky - I phoned HBOS to ask where I sent my request for my Copy of agreement & was told not to bother writing as I was a valued customer etc , etc, many phone calls & no docs later and I am going to have to post a letter recoded delivery. This is just my experience but I feel I have wasted weeks now just to be back to square one. I wouldn't waste my time phoning & just go straight to the template letter & then you have proof.

Same happened to me with my bank. Its always better to write. I did request the SAR from them eventually though and the phone call of my request (and subsequent ones) were on there. I got an "apology" but did win my complaint.

I wonder how they treat the customers who aren't quite as 'valued'. perhaps they just hang up on them or go lalalalalalalalala over them talking like we did to our brothers & sisters! perhaps they even put their fingers in their ears while doing it:p
  • i recently heard from a close friend that the bank she works for that they have ridiculous targets when it comes to selling ppi and they are told that their contracts can be determined on how many ppi policies they sell! just ridiculous!
