Hi,

I am in real trouble.Someone has hacked my hotmail address & now is sending nasty emails to my friends and relatives.I am unable to access my account. Is there any way I can stop this or find out who has hacked my account.

My best buddy is really angry with me & has broken up...please help me to prove my innocence!

thanx in advance

Ask someone who has recieved one of these nasty e-mails to look for an IP address at the start of the e-mail. It will be a series of 4 numbers, with full stops inbetween, eg: 123.223.232.311

Now go to http://www.ripe.net (assuming the culprit is from the UK, or at least Europe), and enter the number (including fullstops) into the WHOIS Database Search box on the right hand side.

This will tell you which Internet Service Provider the culprit belongs to and should give you an e-mail address and/or phone number for their Abuse department.

However, they may be using a proxy, or spoofing the IP address, in which case, the ISP may not be able to help, as it will not be the right one

The best thing to do is get a new Hotmail address, and explain to everyone what has happened!
