Microsoft Word is doing my nut in!

Hello everyone!
I hope someone can help me because Word is driving me potty.
Basically whenever I use quotation marks (") or apostrophes around speech ('), Word automatically subscripts them before the quotation, and reverses the quotation marks (") after the quotation, so it looks like this;
„Due to the long history, worldwide existence and interdisciplinary character of federalism, a plethora of literature has been written on the topic. Yet, these endeavours have not even resulted in a clear and commonly used definition of the term.“
It never used to do this, so I must have inadvertently changed some setting somewhere, but I cannot figure out where! Also, the spell check is being really random and letting some spellings get through when they're clearly incorrect.
Thanks to anyone who can help me!

Thanks for quick reply. I checked and I'm using English - UK so don't think it is that!0 -
It sounds like you have had these quote characters added to AutoCorrect, could someone have done this as a joke?

If you do Insert, Symbol and then select one of the characters in Symbols/Special Characters and then click on the AutoCorrect button, you will see how it can be done and how it can be removed.
:rolleyes::doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
What Font are you using? try changing the font to Arial and see if the problem disappears0
