ok so this sounds dumb but here go's
somehow a disposable nappy ended up in my washing machine without me noticeing (we have some still hanging round house from my before reusables)
my machine and all clothing is now full of slimy gunk, whats the best way to get this out of the machine? without it staying in the pipes also i know the clothes will need washing again will i be best to rinse them out in the bath first
thank you

with the machine, I'd do a hot wash with some old towels, and maybe add a stronger chemical like some bleach, or you could ask the manufacturer.
The clothes, I'd throw them away, or wash in a hot bath and then a launderette.0 -
Not quite the same but I once managed to wash a new sanitary towel in with my wash  No idea how it sneaked in there. Unless it was in the pocket of pair of trousers.
I would do a 90 degree wash with nothing in the machine add either bleach or vinegar but NOT both or even soda crystals if you have them. Again please read labels and don't mix stuff like bleach and vinegar.
Then wash the clothes again at higher wash than normal and add some soda crystals with your washing powder. You may need to wash again.
And once you have finished washing the clothes run the machine again at 90 or 60 degree wash as above and fingers crossed that should help clean it out.
The reason for suggesting doing a 90 degree wash before is to stop anything go back in to the machine before you wash the clothes. And then again after to make sure there is no residue left at all. Sounds like over kill I know but better to be safe than sorry.
All the best.
