problems re: slight damage to wardrobe

Do I have to accept a touch-up repair on the door a really expensive wardrobe (that was damaged before I received it) or can I insist that they replace (or refinish) each of the doors?
We bought a beautiful but expensive (£5,000+) bedroom suite from a local supplier but, during delivery, I saw a deep scratch across three doors and part of the frame on one wardrobe. The suite has a matt varnished finish, and the scratch actually goes through the top coat and into the wood (there's also a faulty lock on the same wardrobe).

The suite was delivered more than 8 weeks earlier than the 12 weeks I was quoted (which I thought was fantastic) and came covered in packaging that the delivery men removed in the bedroom (so the damage was there before it came to my house) - I actually noticed the scratch within minutes of the packaging being removed.

My issue is that the supplier & manufacturer both accept that there is damage but want me to accept a touch-up repair to the scratches rather than a replacement, but I paid a lot for the suite and I want it to be undamaged and un-patched-up. The supplier has twice sent men armed with wax colourants etc to fill the scratches, but the job looked awful (the shiny wax stands out like a beacon on the matt finish) so I told them to stop. When I pointed out that the wax would stay the same colour while the wood darkens/lightens with age, the wax-man said I was wrong (I'm sure I'm not). The supplier agreed that they needed replacing and said they'd contact the manufacturer, but the manufacturer is sending out an independent person (my third 'assessment' visit - and third day off work) to inspect/assess the damage - the person will be here between 7am and 1pm tomorrow, and will ring before he arrives to give me a more accurate time (I hope they don't ring before 7am!!).

I know that they're going to try to fob me off with a repair again, but I paid for a perfect suite, not damaged & patched 'seconds' (I paid over £1,700 for each wardrobe).
If this was a car, and I found scratches on 3 panels as I was taking delivery, the car dealer would keep the car, remove the damaged layer and respray it - they wouldn't use a touch-up pen and expect me to be happy, would they?

Do I have any rights in this or do I have to accept a potch (sorry, patch) job?
Stupidly, I paid the full balance after the supplier told me they'd get it replaced, so I can't retain payment.
