Hi folks
The wife has an acer laptop 5051 that's been acting erratic as of late. So last night i decided to erase the hard drive and reinstall XP home edition. All was going well till it got to the screen where it asks to choose default language and keyboard layout. At this I found the touchpad mouse not to be working so I couldn't move the cursor. I switched off the laptop and restarted it and got to the same point again but this time the mouse worked so on we went until it came to another screen where I had to choose "Next" to continue. At this point the mouse was a no goer again and I gave up in frustration.
Does anybody have any idea what could be happennig here? I would be grateful for any advance.

not sure about the mouse pad, but you should be able to select options by using the directional arrows and spacebar/return keys0
