Apart from the PAD, I haven't visited for a while.
Today, I received a phone call from Virginmedia. A little while ago I received a link to one of their survey forms. I was quite scathing about several isasues and I ticked the box to give permission to contact me.
Basically, I told them I was struggling financially and I intended to explore the possibility of going to Plusnet broadband (£5.99 a month instead of Virginmedia's £20) and that I was considering getting a freeview box to save the £5,50 for the TV package that I have. I do have a BT line so was prepared to move to Plusnet - though I have reservations as the copper pairs around here are rubbish. I was also quite prepared to go to freeview - though a bit reluctantly as it would mean losing particular channels.
Anyway, I got the package reduced from £25.50 a month to £16.50 a month for the next year - total saving of £108. Not as cheap as making the switch but not needing to take the chance on BT line quality and not needing to lose the channels.
So maybe it does pay to do those customer surveys and to allow contact to discuss the results.
In fact, if I had a phone line with Virginmedia, they would have put the freeview on via their own box meaning that I wouldn't have to buy one.
Also, just went down to Asda a bit earlier (by foot) and got some cheap bread and cakes when they reduced them.0
