Odd socks

I wear odd socks as well, it doesn't really bother me at all.
At quite often I pair a navy and black sock of my husbands together, and he never notices.0 -
A male thing - why not just pair them up before you wash em? They usually stay together and they still get washed.0

I pair them but they still disappear. Tried to buy socks of same colour (black) for all of us but then depending on when they go in the wash, if they are sun-dried or on the clothes horse inside, and they change colour the little blighters!
Now we all wear odd socks and don't give a fig about what people think! And this is the girls (me, 49 and my daughter, 17) as well as the boys!
I think that life is too short to worry about odd socks - but I still would not like to use and chuck away even if bought for pennies, it is not only about money, as the cheap socks are likely to have been made in sweatshop by exploited people and little children. For me it is a matter of ethics (but hey, we are all different about this!).
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just have a different colour of sock for everey person, I have grey socks, my boyfriend has all black. No odd socks and we know whos is whos! If you must all have the same colour then one person should get socks with a logo on to make it easier. When one sock gets a hole in, you dont have to dispose of the good one as it will still pair up with any of the others.November £10 a day challenge. Im starting early- 66p so far!0

Ditto. I've worn odd socks for the past 10years at leastMy 11yr old wears them too now. My 14yr old and husband refuse so I chuck their socks on their washing pile and if they wat a matching pair then good luck to them in finding them
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

Maybe we should have a sock swap shop there bound to be pairs out there
GC: £400/ £00 -
I buy the same black socks for DH & myself, DS has black sock too and although he is much smaller, the socks don't look much smaller. I am terrible at matching up socks so i sorted the problem by getting out my sewing machine and sewing a little dot of coloured thread at the very top. I used the stitch that you can repeatedly do over the top (zigzag stitch but kept doing int he same spot?). White for DH, green for me, blue for DS and pink for DD when she goes into proper black socks. You can't hardly see the dots on them and makes my washing much simpler.
On a slightly off topic note - i buy the asda 5 pairs for £2 at present and they don;t last very long. I used to have BHS ones that were more than £2 a pair. Can anyone suggest black socks that are long lasting and not too expensive. Thanks0 -
I have a "Lonely Sock Club", a box in the airing cupboard with its title & some hearts drawn on it.
It has made no difference to the situation whatsoever, because it is very rare indeed that a matching odd sock ever turns up, and I have small childrens' socks in there - and my "baby" is now 15, taller than me & with much bigger feet!0 -
Seem to remember a website that you could post a picture of your 'lonely' sock and see if you can find one to match!
