Upholstery Help Please!!

HI

I'm desparate! SO any help even if it seems trivial would be greatly appreicated.

I'm getting married in 3 weeks and my fiance is distraught about the reception venue looking rubbish - I know to me it's not the end of the world - but I love her so I need some advice as I will be mainly the one decorating the place.

One of the fixable (hopefully) problems is the bank/pub style seating. It is quite rubbish look and I wanted to cover them with nice white/ivory material.
As it is a community centre and we have to return it to former (un)glory. I know little about upholstery or how to fasten covers to bank seating without leaving any (or very little damage)

had a look at upholstery skewers, Antimacassar Pins, Stick on Velcro, Twist Cover Pins on the web and well sound like could work but I dont really know so if anyone know whether any of these fastenings or any others could put up with a night of sitting and be okay to take off.

Any help please!

    Hi there,

I have no idea personally, but there is a very good and friendly upholstery forum at https://www.oldsofas.com. It seems to be mostly quite technical stuff (I have been looking because I want to restore some furniture) but the guy who owns the shop/site seems to be on it most days and to be very helpful and sensible. I think you would probably get a reasonably quick and helpful response. Worth a try anyhow!

    Good luck!

Hi, I cant really help you with the upholstery question Im afraid, but Im sorry to hear your fiancee is so upset about this. Its lovely that youre trying to sort this out for her, and I hope you find a solution, but Im sure the day will be great whatever the chairs look like.

It is nerve-wracking planning a wedding and of course you want everything to be perfect. But on the day, the guests are coming to see you, they arent coming just for a fancy do! I would concentrate on getting the food, drinks and entertainment sorted. then your guests will be too busy enjoying themselves to bother about the surroundings.

Im sure there's lots of things you can do to brighten the place up but you could completely exhaust yourselves if you try and do absolutely everything, so make sure you prioritise and get lots of help from family and friends etc.

    have a great day!
