Missing credit card statement hassles

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and am looking for some words of wisdom.
I did not recieve my Credit Card statement this month & consequently missed my payment date & have incurred a late payment fee (£12). I have checked back & found that a refund which totalled more than the minimum payment amount was made to my card prior to the due date, but have been told my the CC company that it does not count even though it shows as a credit - is this correct? Once I realised what had happened I paid the balance but am now concerned as to how this will affect my credit rating? If anyone can help with either of these questions I will be most grateful

A refund is a transaction reversal and nothing more, therefore does not count as a payment towards the balance so your card company are indeed correct.
Your credit rating will be unaffected as you have paid late and not missed a payment. It is most likely that it will not be reported (card dependant).
Did you ask for the £12 charge to be refunded ? If not and this is not a regular occurence, then you should.
Perhaps you should also sign up for your credit card online services and perhaps arrange a direct debit, then you'll never be late again.0 -
No I didn't ask for it to be refunded, but will give them a call again now & try. I signed up for the online services last week, will look into sorting out a direct debit
. Thank you

Rather than 'look into' sorting the DD, DO it when you ask for the £12 refund. They may be more inclined to give you that refund seeing as you're making the effort to pay them on time0 -
Thanks guys for all of your help - called again & they are refunding my £12 as I've not been late before & the DD form has been printed & posted! :j0
