Dear everyone, I am a new member who joined a minute ago. Thanks for accepting me into your clan?
I want to find out about a company called Touchlocal. Their sales rep called at my home and sold me web advertising, even though I informed her before her arrival that I did not want to promote my business on the internet (for the moment). When she turned up, she said she needed to charge her phone. Now I realise this was to make sure she spent plenty of time to persuade me to buy? When I told her I neede time to think about the offer as I had never heard of the company, she said 'once I walk out of here, I'll give the offer to someone else'.
Then I said I needed to consult my wife (who was in the kitchen at the time) the rep said there was no need for that. She then lowered the weekly amount from £20 to £15. I was never told this amount doesn't include VAT. When their bill arrived 8 days or more later, the prices included VAT, in effect exceeding £15/wk? I was not happy, so phoned and cancelled. Their response, 'it is over seven days and you cant cancell as you are a business, not an individual? I asked for the just under £300 they had taken from my credit card to be returned but they keep writing me and asking for more money even though I have told them on numerous occassions I want nothing to do with them or their company?
Now they say I must pay up within the next three days or they will take action against me?
I need some advice as I am not prepared to pay anymore funds to them regardless of the action they take. Someone help pls. Thanks in advance.

Kintangoman, you might be better off posting your question in the Small Business board rather than Consumer Rights. Somebody there might be more likely to be able to advise you. There is some protection against high pressure selling for some groups of individuals, e.g. pensioners, but I doubt if it applies in the case of a business. Good luck, they sound like a horrible company. I see they have a website where people can post reviews of companies, maybe you can post a really bad review of Touch Local!0

Touch Local also offer free adverts.
If you want to get a reasonable web prescence for free advertising you can advertise on free index for free and its comes up very high on google0 -

I would like to thank Cleo1299, for the advice. I will try posting under Small Business Board.
Surely, in as much as I am not an OAP, I find it distasteful that inthis day and age, any company should get away with selling to individuals or businesses under pressure '(duress)'?
Touchlocal can take me to the highest court avialable, but I will not pay out of principle. I consider their antics to that of a cowboy company. May be I should contact Watchdog?
Touchlocal rang me today (I did send them a not to nice response when they sent mail requesting for unpaid sums), but I just ignored their call. I await letter from their solicitors.
Dacouch, I also thank you for taking the time to assist my plight. I will be checking the free index website.
Yes Antispam, I have not forgotten you. Once this messages are sent out, I will check the web pages you provided. Many thanks.
Keep the goodwork.

thanks antispam, i have been to that website and cant believe the things touchlocal get up to.
I think the company is the equivalent of a rougue trader? They are dishonest and as far as i am concerned, thieves (stealing from unsuspecting members of the public).0
