Lurking at the back of my cupboard I found a box of Betty Crockers carrot cake mix - all you need to add is egg and oil (if I remember correctly). The only thing is - its best before date is June 2000  I havent even lived in this house for 9 years so goodness knows - it must have moved with us :rotfl:
It must just be flour and sugar and flavourings in there. Not sure if I should chance it or chuck it.....

I'd imagine it's probably safe to eat, but the flour's probably very stale by now and I wouldn't think it'll taste particularly good. I'd chuck it, personally!Back after a very long break!0

If you dont want to waste the product, use it as wallpaper paste!Profit=sanity

I wouldn't eat it, as it'll certainly taste very stale - I think it would be a waste of the egg
Shame though!0 -
TBH, I wouldn't have eaten it, even back in 2000

i must admit i wouldnt eat it, BUT.. i would def not chuck it out....
as in a few years this would be ideal just a decor thing for someone's kitchen.

:rotfl: That has given me a good laugh.................. :rotfl:0 -
what are those little things that get in old flour? I want to say woozles but I'm pretty sure that's just my son's Tigger & Pooh addiction confusing me...
Anyway I wouldn't use it because of the woozles.Taking baby-steps :beer:0 -
Weevils, possibly? (I prefer the Winnie the Pooh version, though!:rotfl:)
As long as the box is well sealed I don't think weevils would be a problem as they wouldn't be able to get in to the flour - and any that were in there to start with must have died of old age by now, surely.Back after a very long break!0 -
I have lots of things in my cupboards which are out of date but I think I'd give this one a miss. If you don't want to waste it, why not cook it anyway next time you've got the oven on, rather than waste fuel for a separate exercise, and throw it out for the birds? I'm sure they won't be so fussy as we are!0
