Low priced landline call provider

I have been a subscriber to 2 low cost landline (and mobile) providers for several years. Both are Web-based and provide very good online information on calls, costs and they are accurate. Both are operated by the same company; the first is call1899 and the second is 18185 - both are dot uk sites.
An additional benefit of both of these sites is the option to send SMS text messages at low cost. You can also send the same message to as many as 250 subscribers at the same time. I live in an area where there is no mobile phone coverage and use the 18185 SMS text message option frequently. For those stuck on BT as their only provider, just compare what they charge you to make calls (the old Option 1) vs these alternate providers. For people who call family, friends or use their landline for business calls, you can make significant savings.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

You're quite right - I didn't realize there was a sticky on this subject until after I had posted the thread. I have used all three services from this Lugano based company. My only complaint about them is they never reply to any emails or comments. Apart from that, I don't mind paying them 2p per minute for my daytime calls to Israel landlines when dear outdated BT charge around 61p per minute for the same call - and there are still folks who continue to swear by BT (not swear at them)...0
