Need help with new netbook setup

Hi - can anyone help with a couple of problems I am having with my new netbook.
The first one is that after 15 mins connected to the internet on our wireless network I get bumped off. When I go through the diagnostics it seems that the system has reverted to a wired system, which we simply don't have. I am always able to sort the problem by clicking back onto the wireless network, but how do I stop this happening?
The second one is that I have a digital camera which I want to use with the netbook, but when I plug it in the usb port, the netbook does not recognise anything is there. When I plug in my external hard drive it will recognise that, so I think the ports are OK - any advice?
Thanks in advance for any help given.

What operating system is installed on the netbook?
Does disabling the Ethernet (Wired) network prevent the issue from reoccuring?0 -
I can disable the wired connection during the diagnostics but after 15 mins connected to the internet it will bump the system back onto the wired connection
By the way, I have managed to sort out my camera now0 -
Linux OS?
If you can go to a Terminal, try using the command "sudo ifconfig wifi0"
Should produce a bit of info about the DHCP leasing that we could use to identify the problem.
I have a feeling that the lease on your IP is running up every 15.
Is is around a 15 minutes or is it almost-like-clockwork 15 minute access?0 -
It's definitely like clockwork!0

Could the router be set to log off if idle (900 seconds), needs changing to "stay alive".0
