Eon - online switching facility

Anyone having problems trying to switch their Eon plan over to another one? I'm planning on moving from the new R3 to another Eon product and everytime I've tried to switch online I get a message telling me that their switching system is down and they are working on this problem. It then asks me to call an 0800 number to switch. This has been going on for over a week now.
I've only got a mobile and of course get charged for the 0800 calls so I've not called as yet. I wondered if it was just me, or is anyone else having problems? Everything else online seems to work except the switching service!
Alternatively does anyone have a geo number for Eon I can use?
Cheers:D

I switched my tariff online a few weeks ago and it was working fine then.
You'll probably be able to find some alternative numbers on http://www.saynoto0870.com/
Or you could email them instead and tell them what tariff you want to switch on to.0 -
Hi Guys,
I can't see any issues with the website at present and we haven't received any demand around this so the issues may relate to just your account Blondetotty.
If you contact us we will be able to resolve this for you, if you don't want to call, send us an email via the contact us link on the website.

I have also had problems trying to switch online (or indeed over the phone).
My dual fuel switch from Scottish Power to Eon save online tariff completed on Sunday and I was told on the pohne Eon is now supplying my gas and elec, but it does not show on the online system or apparently the call centre system.
This means I am unable to change Eon tariffs to the fix online 3, (which I would prefer for peace of mind and was not available when I booked my switch to Eon) until it appears on the online system. The person I spoke to at Eon said that the final/ initial electricity meter reading has to be sent off to be validated for each switch so I cannot swtich tariffs until this has been done, this can take quite a while apparently.
I first requested a switch to fix online 3 over a week ago and currently have no idea when this may happen (if ever if the product is withdrawn while I am still waiting).
Does anyone know of a solution, or how long the fix online tariff will be around- the phrase "fix online 3-limited availability" doew not fill me with confidence.0 -
Hi lifebegins,
This sounds like an issue around the transfer of the supplies, it maybe that one product has not actually completed the transfer yet, this would explain why there is mention of the initial reading awaiting validation.
In regards to you changing the tariff from SaveOnline (which it sounds like you joined on) to FixOnline Version 3, don't worry, this can be changed retrospectively if held up by other issues.
Just ask or send an email requesting this so it's on record.

I'm also currently switching from SP to EON SaveOnline because that was the best deal for me when I started the switch but I now reckon "Fix online v3" might be a better deal. As far as I can see there is no penalty to switch from SaveOnline - is that correct??0

Hi Brewerdave,
I can’t help you decide which tariff will would be better, it really depends on what you are looking for as a customer.
Just check the details of the two tariffs and make your decision based on what suits you best.
There is no penalty for switching from SaveOnline to FixOnline v3; you can do this easily yourself via your online account.

Noticed on the Energylinx website price updates bit that EON are increasing the discount on Fix Online v3 for customers in East Midlands and Yorkshire regions."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

Hi Blondetotty,
How did you decide what to switch to? I'm with Eon on a capped tariff which runs out October 1st confused and they're automatically going to put me on 'Price Protection R3' which is a capped rate until 2011. I've tried using comparison sites to see what would be best to switch to, but none are showing this new tariff for me to do a comparison with?0 -
Hi Grawney,
Just to let you know the R3 tariff (and other equivalents) won’t be on the comparison websites yet, this is because there aren’t any customers on this tariff until the 1 October 2009.
The prices should be displayed on comparison sites after this date to allow people to compare prices and find the best deal.
You can use the comparison websites to compare this current tariff against other tariffs available at the moment.
Remember, the R3 tariff has no cancellation fee so on the 1 October 2009, if you find a preferred tariff, you can change that day.
