£18.50 is less than a 5% increase. That is far from ridiculous!

The price for next October is not discounted by the full 50% that this year's rate is (the full price for each of the centres for next year is around £800), so the comparison does not count. It really is too early to book for next October if you are looking for the best price.

It means i compared the price for self catering next year(2010) in silver apartment and price is £388,this year we have booked HALF BOARD in silver apartment for £339.50 so its £18.50 dearer next year and DOES NOT INCLUDE MEALS for 3 people.
The same HALF BOARD holiday for next year has increased from £339.50 to £590.45,this is when booking early for half price offer.

    stega,

As I have already stated, you are not comparing like for like, the rates for next year are not yet fully discounted. Please reread my previous post for clarification.

I today was sent a sneak preview booklet from butlins offering half price holidays on any 2010 breaks, until 19th oct 2009 any break i book will be half price, all prices are based on next years brochure prices so butlins have set there prices for 2010,it also guarantees the prices i pay now are the lowest prices guaranteed,i booked early last year for this year and total price is £339.50,identical holiday for 2010 is £590.45 booking exactly same method as last year eg preview brochure that is offering half price breaks, another website which is a holiday camp forum other people have noticed these increases to,its the way butlins are now pricing there half board options as last year it was a inclusive price but now its an additional add on to self catering prices.it seems to be the half board holidays that have increased the most.

I have today received the latest Butlins update which states 50% off all 2010 breaks. This is misleading as it is only off the accomodation cost .Butlins have a new pricing policy where the meals are charged separately and there is no discount off the cost of meals
In 2009 a 2 Week half board break for 2 adults cost me £610, the price for the same 2 weeks in 2010 is now £792. Thats a 30% increase

IMO You can get the best prices by booking early (now) at Butlins. If I remember right last year Butlins offered half price holidays for the whole of the year (including school holidays) and then later on amended the half price offer to exclude school holidays, reducing the discount to 20%. Therefore if this was when I wanted to go I would book whilst the current offer was on and not wait till nearer the time. Often people wait until closer to the time, then complain when the price has gone up and not down. Last minute holidays are not always cheaper. They were years ago but for the last 5 years we have found that we get a far better deal booking early (we also get the place and accommodation which we want).
It is the way that Butlins are now calculating the halfboard prices that are making them more expensive than last year. Last year on the half price deals you got 50% off the total price. This year they have seperated the cost of the accommodation from the meals and you only get 50% off the accommodation. I think this is because unlike the accommodation which is a fixed cost, the food is a variable cost and they may have been losing money on the 50% off halfboard deals.
The deals this year for halfboard (50% off) were excellent value and IMO some of the deals next year, although not as good as this year still represent excellent value for money.
  • Anyone want a cheap break to butlins skegness ??

I have booked a holiday with the sun offer but now can not go so am offering it to any reader who maybe interested.
I booked a weekend to butlins skegness on march 19th 2010 to 22nd march 2010. Its for a 2 bedroom apartment self catering, sadly im not able to get the time off work. Is there anyone who is interested in this before i put it up on ebay.

So far ive paid £39 (so thats what im asking for) but there is also £21 service charges and the entertainment passes to pay for on top which are £9 each. the holiday is for up to 4 people. So for a family of 4 the holiday would cost under £100 Bargain !!

I can't believe people pay all that money for a Butlins holiday !!

My 2 boys love it there, but I would never pay some of those prices!! I don;t think i'd even "waste" my Tesco clubcard deals for Butlins lol

When we go we either hire a static caravan privately, which sleeps 8-10 and go with my sister and her family

or we go using the SUN £9.50 holidays and then upgrade to silver ( sometimes)

expressman 2 weeks at Butlins ?!! wow
