Taking clips out of dvds

I've got a dvd that I want to take a small clip out of. It was filmed by a guy on holiday (you know the ones, they charge you £20 for a home movie style vid) on a day trip. I want to just cut the small part (prob 10 secs ish) of me on a camel. How would I go about this? I have got dvd drive on my computer by the way!

Thank you!

Do you have any video editing programmes on your computer? what format is the dvd in? If not it could be done with a program that basically records whatevers on a specific part of your screen(you could download one somewhere on the internet). So you play the part you want and record it. However someone will probably have an easier way
