National Hunter query

Hi all,
After reading the very helpful article on boosting your credit rating, I wrote to National Hunter requesting the information I had entered on previous applications.
As I have moved quite a lot (about once a year for 10yrs) I wanted to check for any inconsistencies. The info on National Hunter from the article states:
"What you'll get is effectively a list of the information you've put on past applications. If there's an error on the file, which is possible, you can't correct it directly with National Hunter, you'll need to go back to the lender who submitted that application to have it corrected."
I received my letter from them the other day and all it said was:
"In reply to your letter regarding data held on our records, I can confirm we have no record of any information relating to the details you submitted".
And that was it! So I'm really confused as I was expecting a list of previous credit applications I had made and the addresses / dates that I had entered. In the original letter I sent, I wrote my previous 6 addresses and the dates I had lived there. I know I've made mistakes on previous applications which I want to rectify and I have definitely applied for credit using these addresses in the last few years.
Can anyone advise?
Much appreciated,
Sarah

Maybe the lenders you applied to do not use N Hunter? It is built into most lenders systems now via Experian (they own it) but some lenders simply don't use it.... Its not the best system, not with the introduction of CIFAS....
N Hunter is designed to record fraud & application inconsistencies of grand magnitude (not simple little errors or typos but like saying you earn £20k on a monday and £100k on the friday!), you realise this right? Therefore no info means no fraud - lol
Its a good thing!
Have a mooch here for additional details.... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=16121172010 - year of the troll

Thanks for reply, makes a bit more sense now. From what I understood I thought that NH checks inconsistencies when you've applied for credit, eg on one application i would put my real adresses for the last 5yrs and on another application I had put my mum's address saying i'd lived there for the last 5yrs to make myself look more reliable (I know this is wrong, it was a while ago and I haven't done it since!).
The letter I got back from NH was the type of letter I was expecting to receive from CIFAS as I thought they were more fraud prevention? From what you're saying they sound pretty similar, just depends who lenders go through?
Is it still worth writing to CIFAS as well do you think?

Hiya
I think you're worrying about nothing. Ok, N Hunter works in the way you describe yes, but the data will not stay forever - if it was a while ago then it may have gone.
CIFAS requires a SAR (+ £10) to get data but I think you're worrying about stuff that simply isn't there. If it was a CIFAS mark you'd know about it.
Personally, i'd be getting my 3 credit files and leave it at that.2010 - year of the troll
