Another Co Op Question

The other half tried to open a co op account and has been told that his application has been sent for approval. The bloke on the phone said this was very unusual. Is this normal?
After hearing this, he tried to open an account with Barclays but they wouldn't entertain the idea as one of his unpaid depbts is with Barclays. He has not yet gone BR, do you think Barclays might be feasible after he is BR?
Thanks

Has he in fact asked specifically for the Cashminder account with the Co-op? If so, it is unusual, as normally they do only a brief check and give an answer over the phone. Has he also explained that he will be going BR?
If there are debts with Co-op this could be a problem.
Fingers crossed there is nothing ominous about the enquiry. My account with the Co-op has been open over a year now, but maybe people with recent applications will be along to comment on any change in Co-op policy.Bankrupt 11th June 2008

He did mention BR and yes it was the cashminder account he asked for. As far as I'm aware he doesn't have any debt with Co-op.0

My wife and I were passed for referral when we applied for the cashminder account, then received our cards in the post about 7 days later.
we were also referred when we asked if we could open a second account as we needed 1 account for bills etc, and another for living expenses, same thing happened again...7 days and the cards were there and the account open.:grouphug: hehe it always makes me chuckle0 -
It's quite normal to be referred when opening a cashminder account, I would say it happens to at least 50% of people here.
I even got referred when I opened a second account in my own name even though I'd had the joint account for a year, go figure :rolleyes:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Thanks BDB1, that gives me a little bit of hope. Do you mind me asking if this was recently?0 -

Thanks Peachy0 -
I got referred as well (not BR but on a DMP - credit file an unholy mess plus a recent Deed Poll change of name)
It was all fine though - so I wouldnt worry too much.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
