eon can they backdate charges
Options
my partner has been on a pre payment meter e7 but e o n has been charging her the standard rate charge instead of the e7 rate since she moved in now she is nearly 500pounds in credit so when we called them to try and get the money back they said she was being charged in correctly and should've been getting charged at an e7 rate and they would work it out at what the charges should've been and that will take away all the credit how ever if she wanted they would change her now to the standard rate as this would be cheaper for her as far as my partner is concerned she has always been charged the standard rate and wouldn't of agreed to a higher rate tariff so can eon back date these rates to there advantage then change the tariff which wouldn't need changing as thats what she's already getting billed at or are they just doing this to there own advantage to stop crediting money back to us

I think what they are saying is that on their systems they have been charging a different tariff to what has been charged on the meter, therefore this will have had no impact on the accuracy of the amount your partner is paying, it just means that the bills show a credit.0

Hi keoni,
It is difficult to give a definite answer as this does depend on a lot of individual factors regarding the account.
If it was agreed with E.ON that your partner would be on a one rate tariff and there is evidence of this on the account, you would have needed to have the meter up dated or changed, then there would be a case for your partner.
However, as your partner has an economy 7 meter and the prices are shown on the meter it is clear to see what they are paying, therefore, it is the account at E.ON's end that has been billed incorrectly and this can be re-billed.
As mynameisthehulk has said, the money put in the meter is correct and reflects the energy used on the economy 7 prices. The issue is, if the meter should have been amended to one rate prices.
If a one rate tariff would be better, I would ensure the meter is up dated to reflect this asap.

they are charging on at a standard rate on the bills which is a cheaper rate but they want to backdate the charges to a E7 rate which will take away all the credit of 500pounds the only reason that this happened was last month my partner got a bill of 500quid so when i spoke to them we found out that her card payments weren't getting allocated to her account this happened which resulted in 500quid paid and 500quid credit as she has paid through the meter nearly a 1000quid so they want to change her charges now that she has credit and backdate them and then change her back onto a standard rate tariff so to me they just want to take this extra money and not credit it back0

she has been on a standard rate tariff since being with the company at a previous address as well and it does say on her account that its standard rate0

Hi,
We are obliged to bill accounts correctly, if the meter has been set to economy 7 and there has not been a discrepancy regarding this, we have to bill the actual account to reflect this.
Your partner has not over paid through the meter, as this has been correct and collected money for the energy used on economy 7 prices.
