  • I think you should forget the back-payment.
    I was made redundant in March too and wanted to get the back payment as I didn't know I was entitled to job seekers at the time. Silly really. I heard through friends that it would be unlikely to get it.
    I too have been told that I'm over qualified and will definitely play down my CV as MrsTine said.
    I realise this isn't advice but just to say I know how you're feeling and I hope that things get better soon ;)

    For contributions JSA if you back date won't it just stop sooner, you get 6 months either way.

    That's assuming the claimant hasn't found work in that time. They should be staying positive about getting work in the shorter term.
