BEEN IN A NEW COMPANY FOR 6 MONTHS AS A SUPERVISOR,BEEN TOLD YESTERDAY AT MY END OF REVIEW THAT I WASNT GOOD ENOUGH AND I WASNT PURPOSELY FIT FOR THIS POSITION,I WAS NOT CONFIDENT IN MY ROLL ETC,.
NOW I WAS GOBSMACKED AS I THOUGHT I WAS DOING ALL THE RIGHT THING AS A SUPERVISOR, I HAD NO TRAINING FOR MY ROLL WHICH I KEPT ASKING FOR DURING MY PROBATION,NO JOB DESCRIPTION.
THEY ALL KNEW THAT IVE GONE OUT MY OWN WAY AND LEARNT THE COMPANIES WAY OF WORKING ALL IN MY OWN ACCORD,SAME GOES WITH MY WORK COLLEUAGES AS I TRAINED THEM ON MY OWN SHIFT.
I EXPLAINESD TO THEM AT THE REVIEW BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN SEE THE POTENTIAL IN ME AND RECKON THAT IF I CHOSE TO DEMOTE I WILL FLOURISH AND COME BACK STRONGER WITH EXPERIENCE,BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SALARY THEY OFFERED ME WAS £4,OOO LESS THAN WHAT IM ON NOW WITH 2MTHS PROBATION.I LEFT A SECURE JOB TO COME TO THIS COMPANY AND I KNEW THE RISKS INVOLVED I AS CONFIDENT I BE GOOD IN THIS ROLE AS I HAVE BEEN A SUPERVISOR FOR THE 6 YRS.
THE COMPANY IS VERY CLICKY AS MY MANAGER HAS A SON IN THE SAME ROLL AS ME,WHO KEPT HIS JOB,BUT DOESNT PULL HIS WEIGHT,IVE LEARNT HIS MISTAKES AND CORRECTED THEM ETC.THERE IS ALLSORTS HAPPENING AT WORK WITH BACKSTABBING AND EVERYTHING HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK,NEVERE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE.THEY DONT DESERVE TO BE THERE
I FEEL REALLY LET DOWN,MY WORK COLLEAGUES,FRIENDS AND FAMILY WERE SHOCKED AS I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG.I PURELY BELIVED THEY HAVE DONE THIS TO GET SOMEONE ELSE IN AS THE MANAGERS SON HAS FRIENDS LOOKING TO GET MY ROLL....
OVERALL THERE IS 4 SUPERVISORS, 2 UNEXPERIEND(ME) & 2 SO CALLED EXPERIENCED.
2 UNEXPERIENCED HAVE BEEN OFFERED DEMOTION. THE OTHER GUY FEEL VICTIMISED AND I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO...I FEEL ANGER OF THE WAY IVE BEEN TREATED .... THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT THE MORE DPRESSED I GET. I CANT LEAVE AS I HAVE KIDS AND A PARTNER WHO RECENTLY MADE REDUNDANT, THE MONEY THEY OFFERED ME WILL PUT ME £-150 MONTH
IVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE MANAGER WOULD HAVE A GOOD LAUGH WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF STAFF BUT NOT WITH ME,UNEXPERIENCE SUPERVISOR AND 2 OTHRES WHO HAVE NOW BEEN LET GO. THEY ALSO FEEL VICTIMISED AND BULLIED
PLEASE HELP I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

They can get rid of you for whatever reason they want (barring discrimination) so you either accept or leave.
Also was your posting style meant to give us all headaches.
Also you use the word bullied - there is no bullying here at all. Your just hoping the use of the word will get what you want.0 -
I AS CONFIDENT I BE GOOD IN THIS ROLE AS I HAVE BEEN A SUPERVISOR FOR THE 6 YRS.
I am a bit confused as you say above that you have been a supervisor for 6 years but then you go on to call yourself an "inexperienced supervisor".
There is nothing much you can do, apart from take the demotion and start looking for something else straight away. Unfortunately things just don't work out sometimes, hence the need for a probation period. They could have just terminated your employment so at least you have got some money coming in until you find something else. If, as you say, it is such a horrible place to work then you are better off out of it.0 -
Maybe you weren't as good at the job as you think you were? I would take them at face value. They have said they think you will flourish if you go back to basics for a while, so I would suggest you accept their offer. Granted you will be £150 down, but it's better than being a whole month salary down if you quit?!
I also agree with the above poster, I can't see any evidence of bullying, but from your posting style, I feel you may be a tad arrogant. If that is how they interpret you, it may be that they see demoting you as a way of removing the arrogance, but building on your confidence in a role where you don't have to manage others?0 -
sorry i meant i had supervisory experience from my previous job,0

i really find it hard to wirte how i feel, sorry for all the confusion and im not arrogant i was actually feeling mad when i was writing it sorry.
i forgot to mention...........( new company started up)
no one has told me i was doing the right or bad thing in my roll,2 weeks before the probation had a meeting and they were saying how well i was doing but i had lack of confidence,i replied the reason is that ive never had training in my roll and never knew my job description from when i first started.0 -
Would you rather earn £4k gross less and have a job, or nothing?
TBH, I would accept their offer, ask for some guidance / mentoring to help you in the role, and knuckle down & get on with it.0 -
I hope that your supervisory role did not include much writing, spelling or use of grammar. If it did, then I can see why they did not think that you were up to the job.
Having said that, it does not sound like a very pleasant place to work. However, as it was a probationary period there does not seem to be much that you can do about the situation. It is not good when you are not told about short comings. If you do not know about them, then you cannot do anything to alter them. That is why I never liked the annual reporting system in the Civil Service, you never found out anything until the end of the year.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
My god I almost didn't read it. Why did you write it capitals it's so offputting!
If you are unhappy at their decision then maybe look for something else? It is unfortunate and maybe even unfair, but they are within their rights to do so and at least you have a job.Student MoneySaving Club member 0210 -
I think the best thing to do is to take up the job they are offering (even if it is less pay), you might find you enjoy it, and if not, start looking for new employment somewhere else. It's much easier to get a job if you are already in employment (and you don't need to tell your colleagues or bosses that you are looking elsewhere)KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0

I would agree with this and you could always jobsearch in the meantime. If working practices have not been followed then you could consult HR but if it is a small firm then that might prove unfruitful.0
