Help, will my lodgers debts affect me?

  • Thanks for the advice it's put my mind at rest, I'm not at all worried that he will start stealing from me or not paying his rent as he has always paid me on time (it is big companies and organisations that he has not been paying!) and I took 1 months deposit up front when he moved in and got him to sign an agreement that a solicitor drew up in regards to him renting a room. I also made it perfectly clear that if he was late paying or didn't pay his rent for 2 weeks I would ask him to leave. If I had the slightest feeling I could not trust him there is no way I would share a property with him. I spoke with him last night and explained that he needs to speak with the creditors to get a payment plan set up and that way they will stop hassling him and hopefully no baliffs will come round! I was only worried that in some way it could have a negative effect on my credit rating as remortgaging is difficult enough and when I do want to move I don't want any credit problems. Thanks again for all the advice :)
