Boris Johnson's u-turn on axing western c-charge zone

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23747699-details/Boris+Johnson%27s+u-turn+on+axing+western+c-charge+zone/article.do

This is one of the first of many policies that will gradually reduce the deficit. I'm sure this will make Boris very popular with the people who voted for him.

As someone who voted for Ken, I am glad to see that his policy will not be reversed after all.

  • Seems to have gone quiet all of a sudden.

Any Boris fans care to comment?

He swings the axe at TfL and still he needs extra revenue. Quelle surprise.

As someone who lives in Somerset I am all in favour of this.

In fact I think it should be extended to cover everywhere inside the North & South Circular.

they cope better to be fair - they have less traffic and it's less busy.

i live withing this zone and i pay 80p per day to drive in the congestion charge zones compared to people paying £10 from outside the zone.

this was all Ken's stupid idea anyway - he wanted less traffic in London but then offered discounted "season tickets" for vehicles to come into London whenever they pleased.

i know!!! you do have to pay a minimum of 5 days which is £4 but you get the choice of Monthly or Annual too. all makes sense and much cheaper.

that's City of Westminster - i'm not sure what the other boroughs charge. or how it works with them.
  • nice deal!

  • Things can't be that tight can they? If only a Boris lookalike had played Carcetti in The Wire...

The c-charge extension was always a stupid idea. Expensive, bad for business, not wanted by residents. Most of the support for it seemed to be based on spite.

Doesn't affect me in the least, but you lot seem happy to revel in schadenfreude, so I suppose that's one positive.
