Nintendo DS Lite OR DSi

Hi I am planning to buy one of the above for my 7 years old daughter. Can someone advise which one would be better.

Specially; when it comes to adding games onto a memory card and putting onto DSi. I have heard rumours that DSi has been locked down for that purpose.

Your help in my purchase will be highly appreciated.

The camera on the DSi isn't all that great, even for a "toy".
  • Trouble is, the kids see the DSi as the latest thing, my DS wants the DSi even though he already has the DS Lite, says his DS Lites is old fashioned and untrendy now.

I know I am into same situation as my Mrs and girl is pressing for DSi since her cousins have DSi.

So far no one has recommended its like paying an additional £20-30 for not much of features however, DS lite is also friendly with downloaded games as i have heard.
  • As above, daughter has DS lite and wants DSi - don't see the point myself. Second daughter has used her friends DSi and now not so desperate but still the other one saves....

Personally I'd go for DS lite BUT I'm not the kid wanting to be same as pals. Very difficult one - we know but try convincing them.
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

I have both DSlite and DSi.

IMHO - if you are buying new they you may as well go for the DSi (if you can stretch to the extra outlay) as there will eventually be DSi only games released. There are a few releases with added DSi content at the moment.

I don't think it is worth upgrading if you DSL is in working order. at the moment there is not enough extra to make it worthwile.

As for games and memory cards, the DSi problem has, for the timer being, been resolved. However as the DSi has upgradable firmware this may not be the case for long.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p
