cd rom not reading disks

I have a Liteon LTN526s 52x cd rom and i started to install stuff on the computer but after i installed NTL broadband i got into a fight with the computer because it kept saying insert ntl installer disk so i inserted it and it told me to insert a different disk and it kept doing that so i restarted the computer.

Now it wont read anything. When i insert a disk on the cursor it shows a disk and then it goes and nothing.

Any suggestions at all?

EDIT: forgot to say - i checked the device manager and it shows the cd rom and says that there is no problem detected.

Uninstall the NTL software, you really dont need it.

Does the CDROM work now?

Could be auto-play thats disabled somehow...

Can you double click on the CDROM icon in my computer and see the CDROM files?

No it says 'insert disk into drive d' when click on the icon.

I thought i needed NTL to be able to connect to the internet? i'm using a different computer at the moment.
